Hand-Painted Accent Wall

I have been going banana's over all of you DIY-ers out there! While on Covid-19 house arrest- you pulled out your Sharpie markers and made beautiful magic on your walls! Have you seen this while scrolling through your news feeds? You can see what I'm talking about here.

I had to find a place to do it in my own home. Husband approval was secondary.

After studying which pattern to go with- I decided that instead of using a marker for my design, I'd use up some leftover paint from my bathroom remodel.

Here's how I did it with just paint and a brush!

FIRST-

I gave my walls a fresh coat of white and started in.

I've seen several ways to do this. I've seen anywhere from purchasing stencils online, to making your own stencils at home. I've even seen some going as basic as using a level to guide the lines as you go.

But for me- all of the above was way too fussy. I just free handed the whole thing! Heck- anyone who knows me, knows I refuse to even use lined paper to write on. Lines are just way too restricting.

In total, it took me about 30 minutes to make the pattern- floor to ceiling- on my wall which is about 15' long. Not too bad.

I did not want my marks to be perfect. I wanted a laid back brushstroke feel which was easily accomplished using my angel brush and dabbing off most the paint on the brush tip before putting the brush to the wall.
