This summer we were asked to freshen up a front porch and back patio. For this space we had a few goals in mind, one of those was creating a space with accents of a summer aesthetic but also allowing it to remain trendy and functional for any season.
The first thing we did was analyze the space. We took note of the red/pink patio and the cream-colored kitchen and counter area. Wanting to find a way to embrace those hues Becky found this multicolor rug that would allow us to tie in other colors to the space. Then we looked for other areas where inspiration could be pulled from.
The intern Endia then looked all over the internet for furniture that would complement the space. Creating a presentation of different furniture options, the client then purchased two chairs and a table that she felt fit the space.
Becky then took the area into her program (Chief Architect) to sketch up a plan for the space. Here Becky was able to play around with the different options and figure out the best place for the new furniture. Once discussing with the client what her preferences in decor were, we set out on a shopping quest, looking for mostly neutrals and items of colors from the rug.
Being Lucky we were able to find everything on our list in just two stores! The first stop was Lowes where we set out to find colorful pots, a rug, plants, and pillows. Then we headed to Hobby Lobby where we found greenery and a "Hello" sign for the front door. This project was a great example that you do not have to visit luxury stores and buy overly expensive things to freshen up a space.
After a successful shopping trip, we then headed over to Bryan, Ohio where we started to decorate the home.
